Dreamworks !

Dreamworks is a small home based cattery breeding Bengal cats. We are located in the city of Drammen, not far from the Norwegian capitol Oslo. We are members of a cat club called NORAK (Norsk Rasekatt Klubb), and we are registered as breeders in the Norwegian Cat Club Association (Norske Rasekatters Riksforbund- NRR) which is associated to FIFe.

History

We started out with Miss Kitty in 2004, a sweet rosetted girl with very clear deep green eyes. At first we planned to keep her as a pet together with our huge black Maine Coon named Balder. But after a while we decided to have a litter – just one, and just in case anything should happen to Miss Kitty.

At that time there were very few Bengals in Norway, maybe 200-300 at the most. There were even less breeders, and none of them seemed very keen to help us with a mating. So we decided to get a male of our own, and thus came Emilio. Then came our first litter, then one more, and all of a sudden we found ourselves as breeders.

Breeding program

Although there are many beautiful variations of the Bengal, our devotion stays with the brown spotted (n 24) and the brown marble (n 22).

Our main objective is to breed healthy, high quality Bengals with outgoing, loving personalities. Our cats are treated as part of the family, and we intentionally keep our breeding program small to make sure that both grown-ups and kittens get the necessary love and care.

We believe any breeder should meet the highest quality standards possible, and we are frequently searching both the Scandinavian and international market for potential newcomers. We only acquire from well known breeders with proven ability to produce high quality consistently.

Animal health is very important to us. We feed our cats high quality food from recognized producers, and they are followed up by a veterinarian on a regular basis. We never do inbreeding, but we recognize inbreeding as a necessity to take the breed forward. Therefore you might find distant traces of inbreeding in our cats. However; any cat showing any sign of genetic malfunction – physical or mentally – will be removed from our breeding program without delay.

Moneymaking has never been a motivation for our breeding. In fact - if you’re after quick money you should try the lottery instead – it’s both easier and more reliable!
